The New Covenant did not begin from the Book of Matthew

Covenant beginning

It is germane for us to understand exactly when the New Covenant started. From when I was a child, I always believed that the New Testament/New Covenant began from the Book of Matthew, but is this correct? Let’s check the scriptures for clarity;

Hebrews 9:16-17, “For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives. (NKJV).” The New Testament/Covenant did not begin until Jesus died on the cross. This has been a significant issue that has caused so much confusion. THE NEW TESTAMENT/THE NEW COVENANT DID NOT BEGIN FROM THE BOOK OF MATTHEW; IT BEGAN AFTER JESUS DIED ON THE CROSS. Let’s see another translation for more understanding;

Hebrews 9:16-17, “For where there is a [last] will and testament involved, the death of the one who made it must be established, For a will and testament is valid and takes effect only at death, since it has no force or legal power as long as the one who made it is alive. (AMPC).” The New Testament/New Covenant did not take effect until after Jesus died on the cross. Most of the events written in the Book of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were under the Old Covenant. Jesus and His disciples were living under the Old Covenant before he died on the cross.

I am not telling you to throw away or forget the Old Testament or the Old Covenant because 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (KJV).” However, a clear understanding of the Old and the New Covenant will help us live a better Christian life and to rightly divide the word of truth.

The Covenant is an agreement between man and God. Can you imagine using an expired credit/debit card to make a purchase? That is how it is when we Christians are dealing or communicating with God under the Old Covenant. Your life would be a lot better if you are living under the correct covenant/agreement, instead of living under an expired covenant and agreement.

Love of God

Knowing God
That We May Know Him

In Christianity, the doctrine of the Trinity describes God as one God in three divine Persons (each of the three Persons is God himself). The Most Holy Trinity comprises God the Father, God the Son (which is Jesus Christ God), and God the Holy Spirit.
